Bite-Sized Workshop: Build Your MVP with Google Sheets
On 3rd July 2025, Enterprise@APU organised the Bite Sized Workshop: Build Your MVP with Google Sheets, providing students with a practical introduction to developing Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) using accessible digital tools. The session was conducted by Mr. Ching Cheng Kang, Chief Technology Officer of Pixalink, a MarTech company specialising in customer loyalty and engagement solutions for SMEs.
Mr. Ching opened the session by introducing the MVP concept, explaining its importance in validating early-stage ideas through basic but functional prototypes. He highlighted Google Sheets as a practical and efficient platform for building MVPs, especially due to its ability to integrate with other Google applications such as Forms, App Script, and AppSheet.
In the hands-on segment, Mr. Ching demonstrated a customer reservation system built using Google tools. He showed how users could submit information through a form, receive an automated confirmation email, and be reminded later through calls or messages. The system, powered by App Script, illustrated how simple automation can improve user experience and operational efficiency. He also introduced AppSheet, which allows spreadsheets to be turned into mobile or web applications without requiring extensive programming skills.
Throughout the session, Mr. Ching offered clear explanations and step-by-step demonstrations, making the tools approachable for students of all technical backgrounds. His guidance helped participants understand how to apply these tools effectively in real-world scenarios.
The workshop concluded with students gaining both technical knowledge and practical strategies for building MVPs. With this experience, participants are now better prepared to test and refine their ideas using widely available and cost-effective tools.
